Standing in church as a kid, I always wished I was old enough to
have...just.....loose change in my pants pocket like all the
somber-looking men in my pew. Enough change to make that distinctively
nervous "jingle" sound in the background while we all waited for the
plodding hymn to end.

Have you ever noticed how, lately, pocket change rattling against itself is very flat-sounding?...like pieces of hard clay knocking against each other? Gone is the pleasant tinkle, in its place is a dull clack.
I've heard it said that the copper in pennies is actually worth more than 1-cent these days. Less silver, more nickel, more zinc seems to be the reason coins have lost their audio brilliance. Click here to see a chart of what makes up American coins these days.
I dunno why I wrote this blog.... I just miss the tinkle I guess.
