In the process of researching the Blogging world, and talking a lot to friendly GoDaddy
tech support people, I found out a little something about S.E.O. I
hadn't heard before. S.E.O., or Search Engine Optimization is the holy
grail of top Web Authors. The tricks they use to get maximum exposure
to the "bots" trolling the internet on behalf of GOOGLE, Yahoo, and the like is enough to fill a library.
The GoDaddy tech support people actually wear sales hats too...they're
not overbearing about it, but if they've got you on the phone, they'll
try to sign you up for ancillary GoDaddy services that may appeal to
you, or help with your needs. They've steered me to some good deals,
actually, and one of them the other day shared with me an SEO "secret" I hadn't heard before.
His claim was that search engine bots pick up on how long your domain
name is paid for. You can choose to re-new each year, or purchase 2,
3, 5, or even 10-year commitments from the various domain licensing
services. He claimed that the longer you've purchased a domain for,
the more "credit" you get from the search bots, and the higher your
ranking gets because of it.
He even offered an example of a friend who's into SEO, that jumped his rank significantly after he'd tried everything else.
So....did I do it? Yep. I'm a sucker. It's not like my Voice-over website is gonna go away anytime soon, right?
